About Us

Derby Polish Supplementary School opened in September 2020, and is the result of the hard work of parents wishing to create a place where children can learn about Polish culture and traditions as well as learning the Polish language. It is the aim of the school to instil a love of Polish heritage and to build a sense of pride and patriotism in those learning the language abroad. Our school aims to create a welcoming and engaging environment in which it’s pupils can learn the Polish language as well as Polish history, geography, traditions and folklore of Poland.

The founding Trustees of the school are Leonida Bandura and Agata Jagus.

We started teaching in 2020/21 and had just four classes. In the academic year 2021/22 our school had grown to 10 classes with children ranging in age from 4-15 years old. In 2022/23 we have 12 classes including a GCSE class preparing to take their exams. In the upcoming 2023/24 academic year we are planning to run classes for all of our existing year group as well as two GCSE classes.

We are delighted that our school has generated so much interest and support. Year on year the number of pupils and teachers we have is growing and we are continually developing and enhancing what our school has to offer. We believe that our school is a place where everyone can feel welcome while learning more about Poland it’s history and traditions.

Derby Polish Supplementary School is a charitable organisation, registered by the Charity Commission and therefore all funds are dedicated to the running and upkeep of the school.
